Jan 22nd Appointment

Posted by on 1-01-12 in Uncategorized | 1 comment

Had our regular monthly check up today. Luckily these are so quick and easy! Im not sure if it is because we are using midwives, or if an OB would just as easy. In any case, we started talking about the birth and got the list for the home birth supplies.  I have included a selection below just because we thought it was so funny. Then we heard the heartbeat– 154! This all made us even more excited for Friday’s ultrasound! 1 Shower curtain liner 6 Towels in dark colors or red 1 cutting board or cookie sheet 1 thermometer 2 Gallon...

First Trimester Scan

Posted by on 12-12-11 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Well, on one of the last days of our first trimester, we finally got to do the first trimester scan! The first trimester scan is intended to determine the chances of a baby with a chromosomal disorder such as downs syndrome. We did it partly so we could prepare for the worst, but also so we got a chance to see the little baby. I have to say it was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. We saw the baby move and sleep. The measurements were right on and the tests all are pointing to good news. To see the scans (including the two that Max...

Baby Shopping

We are finally allowing ourselves to buy some new baby things! The first official baby item was a wonderful book from our friend Annie to chronicle baby’s first year. The second item we got (the first non-book baby item) was an adorable skeleton outfit from my mom that will no doubt look wonderful on a boy or a girl . Finally, I actually bought something for the baby myself! Organic towels and washcloths I found on sale at this great organic cotton store in Point Reyes.  Then, we went big . . . today we ordered a stroller! Actually, it...

Heartbeat Update

Posted by on 11-11-11 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

So, we went back to the midwife today to try and hear the heartbeat again. 140 beats per minute! It really all sounded like swooshing to me, but Clarke and the midwife both said the could clearly hear it. She also said that my belly was growing well, and that the baby was moving all over the place!

Second Midwife Appointment

Posted by on 11-11-11 in Blog | 0 comments

Today we had our second appointment with the midwife. We were both nervous and excited, but mostly we were just hoping to get some confirmation that everything is moving forward the way it is supposed to. The beginning of the appointment went great. I haven’t really gained any weight and my labs all came back perfect. So overall, the midwife was very happy. The second half of the appointment was what we were nervous about. First the midwife felt my uterus. She tried to feel for it at the first appointment and couldn’t feel it...
